Thirsty Gaucho
The fashion industry is built on systemic racist and colonial systems that are perpetuating the climate crisis, with this project I wanted to showcase the traditional Uruguayan Gaucho apparel, which encapsulates the narrative of cultural evolution and coexistence since it mixes Indigenous, African, and European elements.
Like Alexandra Ch'allaku said in her last speach for the United Nations (Debt For Climate Switzerland:) “Despite constituting 85% of the world's population, middle and low income countries have only 40% of the vote. Even if the entirety of the Global South United against the IMF and World Bank, they wouldn't be able to stop their plans."Although the majority of this problem is caused by the global north only 2% of surveyed Europeans is aware of the significant contributions of their regions to the current climate breakdown, indicating a knowledge gap in understanding the global impact of environmental practices. It's not just about fashion; it's about coming together to make a difference in the face of urgent global challenges.
